Because the size and shape of El Hibeh
made the standard practice of line-of-sight survey nearly impossible,
the El Hibeh team turned to Ashtech Precision Products for a
solution. With the company's assistance and training at their
own Santa Clara headquarters, the expedition was able to purchase and
use the latest in Global Positioning System equipment.
The Locus Survey System
and Locus Processor software the team took to
Egypt worked incredibly well in the Egyptian environment.
Collection of data points for mapping was easier than could have been
imagined--both in the course of static and kinematic survey. In
the course of one day, a single person could collect information on
hundreds of points anywhere on the tell. Most importantly, after
processing, the data collected was highly accurate--at times, down to
millimeters! To find out more
